Good move, I have the 8130 and got one for the wife too. You will get the ability to record movies, a 2 MP camera and other good stuff. It is a great BB and I recommend it highly.

    Re: 8100 or 8130?

You can't use an 8130. I thought it supported GSM/GPRS/EDGE like the 8830, but Specifications page for the device indicate it only supports CDMA2000 1X Ev-DO networks. If it has no GSM support, you can't use it with the same provider as your 8100.

Let me clarify - you can't use an 8130 with the same network as an 8100. If your provider supports both GSM and CDMA, then you'll have no problem, but if you're with one of the major providers - like AT&T or t-Mobile, you will NOT be able to use the 8130!

Yes I know I have to switch providers. In my case from Rogers to Telus. Rogers uses EDGE and Telus uses EDVO. As I understand EDVO is faster.

You should go with the 8130. My girlfriend uses it and she loves for all the reasons stated above. Note that you will get decreased battery life (not by too much) but at least you'll also get GPS.
