    8100 on cingular -- problems

Got a pearl when it launched and unlocked it about a week later since tmobile informed me that I would not be able to keep my 919 area code number (they don't own any towers in NC)

I have a couple of problems with using it on cingular so far. For some reason I can't setup my bis email because it says there's already an account for this pin. How long does it take for tmobile bis to release?

Also, I can't get any of my im apps to work. In my apn I have the following settings:wap.cingular.com

    any ideas?

Also, my mms won't work. This seems to be 50/50 with pearl users on cingular

    Any help us appreciated

My pin is 204CF0E7 if anyone can assist. I work for an airline so I may not answer for a half hour while I'm boarding a flight

I think I can answer your questions.

#1 - you need to delete your BIS account with Tmobile. When you delete it, your PIN is released.

#2 - Cingular does not support instant messaging, so nothing you change will make it work.

#3 - Cingular also doesn't support MMS for BlackBerry devices.

Thanks to a stacker using pin messaging I have the correct APN settings. Im services do work (ramble im).

I did cancel my BB service with tmo but for some reason it hasn't released. Been a few days. Guess I'll give them a call. Thanks guys.

Can you share what the correct APN settings should be for cingular users. I just got my pearl today and i am currently waiting for the 'unlock' code.

Have any cingular users got their MMS to work? If so how, are there special service books that need to be requested?

    Thanks for the feedback,

    GP

I had the same problem a few days ago... tmobile will be happy to do it when you call them... they just need to blank out the PIN identifyer on their network... takes about a minute.. as soon as they do it, it will allow you to use the other provider...

Re: 8100 on cingular -- problems

Here are the settings I sucessfully used:
Hello - first, I set up the online account w/ Cingular at (it won't let me post the URL but you go to the BB website and go to support>BB Internet Service and choose Cingular from the list at the bottom). You can set up your email accounts from there. Also from your account, you need to click on Service Books and tell it to push the service books to your phone. From there, go to your phone in Options>Advanced Options>Host Routing Table and select any of the entries there. Push the button with the dots on it just to the left of the trackwheel (don't know what it's called) and select Register Now. You should then receive a registration message on your BB. For the WWW, go to Advanced Options again and select TCP. Change the APN to wap.cingular. Change the Username toWAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM. Change the Password to CINGULAR1. I used caps as listed. That should just about do it.

That button with those "dots" to the left of the trackball on the Pearl is called the menu key.

Those "dots" comprise the BlackBerry©® logo.
