Question 8100 camera won't open - error message

Hi Everyone... I've searched the forums and am coming up empty.

I went to turn on my camera in my bb Pearl and I get this message...

"Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again."

Well, I don't have anything else open... not even bluetooth. I've taken out the battery, the sim card and the micro SD card....

Any troubleshooting tips? I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

    Mare

Thats a new one... at least I have never heard of it.

When you took out the battery did you wait 30 seconds? Thats the difference between a soft and hard reset on the pearl.

    mare, Welcome to PinStack.

How it the memory level on your Pearl? You may have had a hiccup in the OS and it needs to be reloaded.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with this problem or your BB.

Thanks for your help. So far nothing has worked. The battery was out longer than 30 seconds. (I can't get the micro SD out that fast and I mean I took EVERYTHING out. LOL!) The memory level seems to be fine and the SD card is virtually empty. I'm not a power user, just a mom with three daughters in gymnastics and I would be totally lost without my BB. Keeps me and the girls organized but I don't use a lot of applications. Just last night got a pretty wallpaper.

Anyway, I am still plugging away. Reloading OS is my next step. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

This is truly weird. I've only heard of such happening with windows mobile devices and that's because too many applications are open.

Reloaded OS and double checked the memory. Have 9 MB out of 19 available internally and only all but 1 MB of a 1GB SC card is being used.

    Still not working.

Off to try tech support... wish me luck with that one!

Mare, you might want to delete the unused Language support modules the next time you connect to your PC. You can do this by unchecking any that you don't want in the List when you Open Apps Loader.

Let us know how it works out.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestion about the languages... I had done that too.

I called T-mobile the other night and waited 90 minutes for the call back. The guy had me do everything I'd already done and then before we could "really" troubleshoot, I got a dialtone AND the T-mobile website crashed. It was after midnight by then so I gave up.

Off to try it again now. Here we go... the wait is 2 minutes... holy cow! Will let you know.

OK... off the phone. My new 8100 is being shipped. We took it all the way down and only brought back the basics and it still wouldn't work. The first T-Mobile guy hadn't heard of it and neither did this one.

So, I get to start with a brand new one in a week or so.

    Thanks for all your help!

This happened to me once. All I did was take everything out battery, sim card, and micro sd card. Then blow into the simcard and sd slots and wait a few minutes. It should start working.

The same thing is happening with mine. And when the camera does open, it will freeze the screen and i'll have to pull the battery to reboot my phone. I've checked everywhere to see if others have had the same problem but it seems kinda rare...? I've reinstalled the OS (upgraded to the newest one) and it's still having the same issues. Any other suggestions?

A co-worker is having the same problem with her phone. She knows it happened after she paired her Bluetooth. Any ideas? She's AT&T.

I am having the same issues and have tried everything except re-installing new os. Does os mean re-install 4.3 desktop software again?
