    8100 backlight problems after upgrade

    Howdy,
This may seem dumb but i cant figure out what happened,

I upgraded my 8100's OS to 4.2.0.64 from the tmobile website the other day and noticed that my backlight had begun auto dimming again as i usually have that set to off. So i went back into Options / screen-keyboard and there is no more option to turn it off, i see one to set the brightness between 10-100 and one to set the backlight timeout.

My question is did this option disappear with the tmobile upgrade or am i looking for it in the wrong place???

Anybody else who has tmobile notice this, any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks

    yes...this is a FIX.
to some, this feature is very important.
to others, like myself, it drives me nuts. i chose to go back to .42. I can't stand that auto-dimmer! sorry you found out the hard way.

Ha ha! I'm the biggest hater of the Auto-Dim function! Please see my other posts! I first didn't like it with the Roger's update. They should at least have a function to turn it off!

Doob, I think we need to put a sticky up for "How to GO BACK to an earlier OS when you are annoyed by the new one"

    Tada:

Okay, in order to downgrade your OS this is what you need to do:

Find the OS that you are wanting to downgrade to.

    Download it to your computer.

Run the .exe file and install the OS onto your computer.

Do a search for vendor.xml and delete it.

Or go Start/My Computer/C: Drive/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/App Loader and it should be down in the bottom there.

Now connect your device to the USB.

    Start Desktop Manager.

    Go to Add Applications.

A box will pop up giving you the option of downgrading or keeping the same OS.

Click the downgraded OS and you are on your way.

It was at the bottom of another thread. For some reason I thought I had made a post in the How To/Guides section, but apparently not, so just posted it there under software.

dino, if you did go up a level to the new OS, you will lose the ability to use a 2gb micro sdcard. the .42 OS is only able to use 1gb card.
