Why do you hate autodim so much? lol. I love it. In fact I wish it would have more than just two states, and instead steps of maybe 10.

I'm no expert so can't offer much tech info, but for the most part it seems like a nice improvement.
No really huge changes like video recording from what I can tell.

+Much quicker all around from viewing media to menu response.
    +Backlight control's back
    +MyFave icons in the logs.
+Interesting 'Desptop View' browser option that allows you to scroll around in a full size (1280x800?px) render of webpages. neat page overview option too.

-I've been able to get a javaError by using the new 'Add Custom Phone Tune' phonebook option on a group instead of an individual.

The error's the only problem i've had since upgrading last night except my empty incoming mms's but twas an issue before upgrading

Is this a silly question, but how come this new version comes out in Italy? why not the the big market for the BB US and Canada??

I have the option to set my backlight level from zilch to 100% and if you set it for what you want its OK, the auto dim also works for me. so what is the gripe!!

ya my bad, just a change in the autodim. Recieved my phone with .64 so never had the option. I just like having it there, plus with it off the J2MEFlashlight is super bright!

adding on to the list (no need to repeat ones listed)

    -improved suretype speed and accuracy
    -more free memory
-automatic bbm status refreshing (you now don't have to be in a convo with person to have an up-to-date icon for them showing if they are on phone, idle, etc.)
-built-in bbm 'send a voice note'

nothing else comes to mind at the moment that wasn't said.

    -edit-

oh and the blaring memory leak is fixed, but that has been fixed since .71

Re: .64 OS vs. Italy .66 OS!

i'm also no expert ive been running 1.66 for almost 24 hours so most of my info is still preliminary

+ i had a relatively smooth install, no resending of service books or any of that

+ most if not all applications are faster after the initial use the first time you use any program or application it seems to do some weird stuff (ie: the first mms i sent it took for ever and when it got there the top half of the image was fine, the bottom half however looked like one of those sliding picture puzzles it was weird... but then i resent the same image and then another and they both came through fine....

+ back light control ... i never had it before so its a nice new feature for me

+ improved suretype which i really like

+ MyFave icons in the message logs makes me wonder if maybe t-mobile is maybe hop on the alltel bandwagon again and maybe we'll get free messages to our five( wishfull thinking)

+ the desk top view in the browser is a nice feature , i personally like the mobile view but i like options some pages just look better in the desk top view or require the ability to side scroll

+ an updated calculator it may just be a skin/ appearance but i like it better

+ you get a choice of views in the media player for music
list = artist then song title
    title= song title then artist

and now for the con / issues i've encountered

    - i did encounter the mms issue i mentioned above but again that corrected itself

    - i lost the Bluetooth icon ... the on/off one not the set up one, again once i turned on my head set and hit set up, my head set was on the list and i activated it then the on/off icon appeared again...

    - i too got a java error messing with ringtones i dont exactly remember what i was doing... but all my custom ringtones and settings have worked as they have in the past so all is good as far as i know

-one annoying thing is in my pictures the way they are displayed keeps reverting to the default "list" which i prefer thumbnail cuz ist quicker

    - one thing i just noticed in the tcp settings my apn has been changed to
    " internet.com " i did have it set for wap.voicestream.com

well i think thats about it... hope it helps

Where does one get this OS? I'm a little leery of installing the Cingy one which has a higher rev than .64 and .66. They won't smoke my Tmobile 8100?
