4gb media card not working but 2gb works

    Dear Friends:

I put my friend's 2gb media card to my BB 8100 and it works fine, then I bought another new 4gb media card and this time my BB 8100 can not read.

    The phone shows this message:
"A media card is not presently inserted in the device"

I know I insert the media card correctly, and when I insert the 4gb media card to my friend's bb 8100, it works fine.

How come my new 4gb media card works fine with my friend's BB8100, but not mine??

Your device will only handle a 2gb card. You'll need to upgrade your operating system to use a larger capacity card.

You can get an "official" release of the 4.5 OS here:

    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...ad.php?t=80830

There is a beta release for your device available, 4.5.0.69 that you can find by googling that release number. Forum rules prohibit us from posting links to beta releases. Please read through the following thread for a synopsis of how PinStack can help you:

    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com/firstvisit.php

If you decide to upgrade your OS, below is a thread with detailed instructions on how to do so:

    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...read.php?t=929

You have lots of people around who will help you with questions and/or issues, so don't worry about upgrading!

    Good luck!

    Roger

    Yup!!
I strongly suggest the upgrade alex, it's really worth it, you get some nice upgrades!!

And after the 4.5 OS upgrade, you're device will not only support a 4gb card, but it will support up to an 8gb memory card, now isn't that sweet?

The stacks are here my friend, for any and all your bb needs

I was not aware that the OS system had to do with the capacity of the media card. Good to know, thanks! ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
