That's why I stated above that it is probably in the 12 MB/s range which is USB 1.1. I just could not find anything that stated what USB compliance it is.

So to answer the question above, the sd card would limit the speed, if the BB is USB 1.1 then 12 MB/s would be its speed and the card classes are 2, 4, and 6 MB/s.

    Switched from 1gig to 4gig and I don't see a difference. Except for more space :b .~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

    Good deal!
Thanks for all of your insights!

Gotta go out there & upgrade my 1GB

Now to read more on the other threads about how to view video & get the controls to work well!

This has been the best website I've stumbled upon recently! It sure beats staying on hold with blackberry technical support!

If your worried about speed just make sure when you purchase the card that you spend the money on a good one.
I had a generic brand 1GB I picked up at frys for like 14.99
and then I scored a actual SanDisk Brand Card and the speed
diff was very noticable when accessing photo's, videos, and
Mp3's that were on it so make sure you check the memory
    speed when you buy one.

I'm using a 2gig sandisk on 8100 pearl without any issues. Bought at Radio Shack for 28 bucks, on sale of course. Would like to upgrade to 4 gig card but everyone seems to go back and forth about them working with the 8100 pearl.
