I have had the best luck with 'Micro' SD card. I think I got a 2GB card from Meritline, and it was $28.50, shipped.

Hi Blaber! Welcome to Pinstack! I'm currently using a 4GB Sandisk and had no problems with it. Got mine for $60.

Is there any difference in accessing files in terms of speed?

Is it worth it to get a card with fast data transfer speeds, or is the speed limited by the card interface?

    Does anyone know?

Not sure. That is a really good question. Does anyone have a clue, cuz my access speeds with my 2gig sucks, but I really think that that is because of the BB itself.

The speed of my 2GB and 4GB is practically the same, never had issues with it.

Re: 4 gb Micro SD card

As with any hardware or software it is limited to the weakest link. If the software can do 4 MB/s but the hardware is only capable of doing 2 MB/s then 2 MB/s is all you will get. All the sd cards are divided into classes. Here is an quick explination from the SD Association website:

What is Class Speed Rating? The SD Association has created and defined 3 speed
classes to help you identify speed and performance capabilities/minimum requirements of SD/SDHC cards and the host products. The SD Speed Class Ratings specify a minimum sustained write speed for SDHC cards (Class 2: 2 MB/s; Class 4: 4 MB/s; Class 6: 6 MB/s).

The link I provided above was for a Class 2 4 Gb microSD card so that one would operate at 2 MB/s. What exactly the BB can do I don't know. I would assume (bad thing probably) is meet at least the standard rate for a USB 2.0 device which is up to 480 MB/s but probably more in the range of 12 MB/s which would be along the lines of USB 1.1. Here is the specs for USB 2.0 devices:

    http://www.usb.org/about/usb_nomenclature

    Does this help?

Re: 4 gb Micro SD card

I thought that I saw somewhere that BlackBerrys use USB 1.1 not 2.0 and that is the reason why transferring media through USB is so slow.
