    4.2.0.67 and Warantee info

My speaker on my phone died on me a few days ago, I called T-Mo to have them replace it and remembered that I had the .67 software on the phone. I took a chance and told the rep about it, and they told me that it is unsupported software and would void the warranty if they received it like that. I had to downgrade the phone to the .64? version that's on the T-Mo website.

Just an FYI for anyone else who might need to get an exchange under warranty. Hopefully this will save someone $100.

Sorry to break it to anyone but if you should have to do a warranty exchange on a BB pearl and they find it to be the users fault for the malfunction they will charge you not $100 but $300 for the black and $359 for the white. Messed up huh?

    that is totally messed up.
i would suggest anyone trying to return a pearl for an exchange to do a complete wipe and restore it to the same as when you bought it...of course, if you can

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
I personally think that is bs. I just exchanged mine on warranty, and the new pearl came with the .67...

i agree ^^ but what can you do?
if they try to apply the $$ amount to your bill? i would be SOOOO mad!
i hate this "we don't support this"...its bull crap! its their way of being lazy (and this isn't anything against tmobile - i think all carriers DEFAULT to this)

What other models are you meaning Erica? I can give you a price for out of warranty fees for any of the tmobile phones.

I had this discussion with two other members who kept disagreeing that unsupported software can cause a voiding of warranty.

Tmo's logic is 'whatever you installed could've pushed the phone past its preset limit' (e.g. overclocking or dB tweeking). Atleast t-mobile is nice enough to help you set up APN settings and give some unofficial advice solving 3rd party problems. They really do try to work with you.
