    (-2) Call Log - Cold Reset Doesn't Work

    Anyone have any ideas how to fix the (-) Call Log problem, I don't want to do a hard reset and a cold reset doesn't work.

    varano, welcome to pinstack!

    this happened to me too, shortly after getting my pearl. unfortunately, the only thing that ultimately resolved it was a reload of the OS.

    Be sure to back up your data before you re-load your OS.

    can someone walk me through a back-up and an OS reload, also, will this happen again eventually or if I do this OS reload will the problem be fixed for good?

    ok...

    to back up your data, plug in BB, open DM and click on Backup/Restore and choose backup.

    unplug BB from usb after backup and close DM

    now, to the install.
    1) download new OS
    2) install (execute the file) new OS on to PC
    3) find and delete vendor.xml file (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader)
    4) plug in bb to usb and open DM (your DM should automatically realize that you have installed a newer version of the handheld OS - if it doesn't, go back and repeat step #3
    5) follow prompts to install

    you can restore just as you backed up.

    ***NOTE*** every single time that i have upgraded an OS, i have had to 1) register the handheld and 2) resend service books
