I'm an Install Supervisor for A&B Sound In Calgary, While working on my own vehicle I decided to experiment a bit with the auxillary input on my aftermarket CD/MP3 Deck.
My phone at the time was an LG500, with no bluetooth, but I had the wired headset which was a pain to use. I should mention that my vehicle is a standard, and I get alot of calls when i'm driving.
So what I did was cut the headphones off and soldered a set of rca's on to the jack after the mic part. now all I had to do was plug it in to my Aux input off my deck. When a call came in I'd switch the source to auxillary and I could hear the caller on all my speakers and they could hear me clear as day. When I upgraded to the pearl I guess I lucked out cause it worked flawlessly with it aswell. Also as an added bonus it was also easier to stack my phone up with mp3's and listen to that through my system than carry a bunch of cd's. if any one is interested i will post a tutorial.

The Seidio adapter is the best way to go. True stereo, compact and adds a microphone to the equation for taking calls while listening.

Pay attention to XFactor's comment above. YOU MUST PLUG THE PHONES INTO THE ADAPTER BEFORE YOU PLUG THE ADAPTER INTO THE PEARL OR YOU'LL ONLY GET ONE CHANNEL.

Besides my GPS, this is my favorite Pearl accessory.

    Re: 2.5mm headphone jack issues

The whole "sweet spot" thing is really annoying, works great! ...Yet highly annoying. Can't move your phone anywhere or set it down, or put it in your pocket.

I have tried 3 different adapters. Have not yet tried the ones online.

Alll three were from Radio Shack.

1st one just makes clicking noises as I fiddle with it while plugged in the phone. (three black bands) $13

2nd one plays "true stereo" in "sweet spot" mode. (two black bands) $10

3rd one just plays mono no matter how I plug it in. (one white band - obviously mono) $.54

    The VERDICT:
I think that I am going to break down and buy an adapter online that has a built in amp, a microphone and an easy answer/end/mute button. I have a few good candidates. The worse that could happen is it not work and I send it back, or sell it to my friends that have sidekicks, MDA's and the Q.

The Jabra Stereo headset with microphone I have heard works great!... but have not tried it myself.

So if anyone else has any better suggestions that are maybe a little cheaper than 35-50 bucks. Feel free to throw them on the table. I would love to hear about them.

    Thanks all!!!!

I walked into my local TMO store and they gave me a stereo headset (with mic) for free...works fine for my purposes.

Really? Were they just in a happy mood or something or is there more to it?

Go in to the first link in this post
    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...will_work.html

    Get those from Verizon Wireless.
You can either buy the adapter, or the whole adapter w/ headphones.

    Works really good!

I use a cassette in my tape player and plug that into my adapter on my phone to use my car sound system for my music while i'm in my car and then just plug in my headphones when I leave the car.

Highly recomend that adapter for anyone using their BB for mp3.
This is my recommendation as well, the seidio one works great and it's only $10 for the stereo adapter or $15 if you want the version with the Mic too.

    just for anyone who cares

I figured out the radio shack adapter, it doesn't help anything but i now understand. The adapter makes one of the speakers a mic. don't believe me try it use the voice dial, talk into the headset say call and whatever. Next cover the headset (the one with no sound) and repeat it won't work.

You guys are great. I just went through the whole Radio Shack routine to figure out none of their adapters work. I am trying to hook my Pearl to my car stereo via a cable with 3.5mm jacks. This should work perfectly - I'll post once I receive the seidio to confirm. Note: their website is www.seidioonline.com - the earlier listing of this post misspelled the website.

Well, I got the adapter in a timely fashion, but it doesn't work the way I had hoped. I connected the adapter to the cable, then the cable to my car stereo, then the adapter to my phone. SNAP, CRACKLE, POP for a couple seconds, then mono sound from my Pearl. I tried a variety of connection and on/off combos - but the same result. I can only get mono sound through my car stereo.

    Anyone with a different experience?

Yeah I used to do that j llama but hated it, I couldn't move the phone or the connection would be lost.
Now I have some Cingular headset. A silver one that they sell in small wireless stores. It works great, the sound quality is 100 percent great and its noise isolating. I love them

I'm having a bad experience with the Seidio adapter as well. It's been over a month so I probably can't get a return on it.

My phone goes apesh*t whenever I plug in the adapter to listen to music. First, it causes the voice dialing to activate for some reason. It gets annoying to hear "Say a command" every so random often after the initial plug in. Then, for some reason my music will stop playing. I have to shake the pearl and it continues playing. At first I was worried my phone was broken, but rationalized that the adapter's connection to the jack is the problem. The connection where my earphones connect to the adapter is also problematic which causes the voice dialing to activate or pauses my music. I plugged in RIM's factory mono-earbuds and everything worked fine.

Now I'm stuck with my new set of earbuds I invested in that cannot be used because I paid an absurd $15 shipped for the seidio adapter which is now useless. Here's the kicker, product was made in China.

I think I've already received an email from you, but if not, feel free to send one and I'll get you a replacement. Also, if you have the opportunity, you may consider plugging a different set of headphones into the adapter to see if you get the same results. We design our adapter to be very standardized, but nobody can guarantee that every headset made will work perfectly. If there is some kind of incompatibility a replacement won't do you any good.

    Thanks

I am also having a problem listing to the music from my BB pearl on my car stereo system plugged into the a cassette , I purchased a Seidio adaptor and it does not work either, I returned the first one I purchased and got another incase there was a problem with that particular adaptor but the second one does not work either. I can only get it to work on one speaker.

Has any been able to listen to music from their pearl on their car in stereo using a Seidio adaptor ??
