You can always use another provider's update (Optus for example) if you wish

OS upgrades are phone dependent NOT carrier dependent

Thanks. Is there any downside to using another provider's OS - OPtus for example ??

Why are there different OS's from different carriers? Doesn't RIM create all of them? Why don't they all get updated at the same time? (I'm sorta new)

From what I know each OS has a slight something different about each of them. What exactly? No idea. I do know that the rogers one has a 'rogers theme' incorporated in it. There are 3 different OS's available on Pinstack to choose from. at&t, Rogers and the Optus one. and everyone has there own opinion on each.

From what I understand, RIM releases the OS and it is up to the carrier to test it and then release it. I always tend to update my OS and have never had a problem

The best answer is "most likely". AT&T does release software OS upgrades, just takes their own sweet time to test them, schedule them, and release them.

So after we know that a new OS has been released to the carriers we can tell how fastidious each is based on how long it takes to see an updated OS?

Do we know the release to carrier date, or do we have to go from the date of first carrier branded new OS?
