I paid the big bucks to get an unlocked 8320 to run on ATT becuase the wifi is about twice as fast on my corporate email account mobile site than the edge was on my 8300. (not lucky enough to be on the companys BES. They're to cheap). It was worth every penny.

You might as well take it back now because I tested my 8320 against a co worker's 8310 and smoked it on every page we loaded!!!!!
You can't learn anything if you're talking!

I own both phones and have tested them side by side many times, and for now the 8310 is faster.
But when 4.5 hits that will no longer be true.

Ran the speed test using my 8320 as a modem. Speed came back
    9.82KB/sec. on T-Mo EDGE

Maybe that's why Tmo's data plan is $10 cheaper than ATT. Tmo knows theirs is slower =]

Actually I think that is why they were eager to adopt the UMA features offered by the 8320 and a few other phones they offer and will be offering in the future.
It has alot to do with their ability to put up antennas.
Simply they haven't nearly the coverage or the bandwidth of any other provider, and UMA/WiFi is a cheaper way of expanding that coverage... Cheaper for them anyways.
