WiFi > Cell Network dropping calls

If I understand correctly, when on a WiFi call and you move out of range, the call is supposed to move onto the cell network and the call continues. When I do this, the call always drops. I contacted tmobile and they suggested that I switch the settings from wifi prefered to mobile network prefered. This did not help and they sent an exchange. Still I have this issue.

    Is this a known problem?

It is a known problem. Tower acquisition takes a few seconds, and if you get out of range of the wireless network before the acquisition completes, the call will drop.

Supposedly moving more slowly out of WiFi range will reduce the number of drops.
