I used a T6 on the 8700. I don't have my tools on me but they look the same.

just checked, it's not a T-6, it's a T-5. if you get the one from home depot it comes in a set of 8 diff sizes.

damn it i ordered a T6 I will see if they will change the order...yeah I used cnn.cn have used them before with no problems, my only concern is that I currently have no dust under my screen and if I make the change I might get the dust and all for a small ding on the outside edge of the screen not even on the viewable surface.......but then I am a freak

Just got to work, and pulled some tools, you're right, its not a T6. I wonder why my screw driver fits then? Sorry to the OP for having you order the wrong part, but you can get them at home depot.

I had changed out the case for my 8700 previously, what I noticed is that although the case from cnn.cn is a very good one, but there's one thing that it didn't have as compared to the OEM which was creating the dust under the cover problem. I don't know if it is the same with the 8300 since I haven't had to open it up.

The main difference is on the front plate under the glass. in the OEM there's a trim of foam around the glass and that foam presses against the LCD once the face plate is screwed on in order to prevent the dust from going under the cover. The one from cnn.cn does not have the foam trim under the glass. I was thinking of adding a foam trim some how if I was to have to change my case in order to prevent the dusts problem, maybe you can look into that and see if it solves the problem. keep us updated.

    Re: which screwdriver?

Yes I can imagine that would solve the problem, even if dust got under the cover (even my oem cover has dust under the battery cover etc, but the foam would form a seal and prevent it moving under the screen, I have had 2 cases from cnn.cnn for other phones one good one not (dont know if they had foam)

I will provide a discription when the cover comes and if need be add my own foam (all it would need is a thin square)

    will let you know.
