    A service book is a file that contains settings that control access to the Carrier/RIM network for a specific application or group of applications that use data transmission over that network.

    A service book contains information that configures how your BlackBerry device interacts with the BlackBerry Infrastructure. It also enables specific services for your BlackBerry device. The selection of service books on your BlackBerry device depends upon the features provided by your wireless service provider and the IT policies set up by your organization.     Address Lookup Protocol (ALP) contains information required to perform wireless Global Address Book searches

    Contains complimentary configuration information for the BlackBerry Browser that leverages the BlackBerry Mobile Data Service or BlackBerry Mobile Data System™ (MDS™) transport
    Desktop [CICAL] or BlackBerry [CICAL] *

    Key Negotiation (KEYNEGO)

    Used for Google Talk message encryption and decryption - The algorithm used by Google Talk is Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256 bits
    Rogers (or service provider) MMS WAP

    Used for the transmission of Multi Media Service (MMS) messages
    WAP Push Config

    Used by the device for wireless application protocol-dependent applications (for example, Rogers WAP browser or T-Zones)
    Desktop (BBIM)

    Contains the record information used to send messages using the Microsoft® Live Communications Server
    Yahoo Messenger (YHO)

    Contains the record information used to send messages using the Yahoo!® Messenger client (available from the service provider)
    Web Client [CICAL] Contains information required for the BlackBerry wireless calendar and wired calendar operations (e.g. wired synchronization with Outlook Client) - Available in BlackBerry Internet Service 2.3 only, on BlackBerry devices running software version 4.2 or later
