    Wet Phone

So I got this brilliant idea to clean my phone using LCD liquid cleaner. I usually do this at least once a week and it works fine, but today the liquid got in the phone . The phone is basically not working.....it turns on but it can`t read the media card and it seems the keypad is locked. I wiped the water from the phone, removed the battery and have socked the it in a bowl of dry rice. How long is it supposed to be in the rice because I kinda feel useless with out it please help

You should leave it in the rice at least a day if not longer. If you put the battery in will it is still wet you take a big chance on frying it totally. I would say put it back in the rice another 24 hours at least then try it again.

Definitely leave the battery out for a day or two. I would recommend wrapping the phone in a paper towel or something to keep the rice chunks and particles out of the phone. The rattles afterward will drive you crazy.

So I tried to turn on the phone this morning and the keypad was not responding. The track ball is work and screen is working fine. I do have a spare keypad so I guess I can get it switched if the same keeps happening. My worry is that there is little improvement since Saturday night. The phone is still in the bowl of dry rice and I also put a silica gel back yesterday. Any other tips would greatly be welcome

I would wait it out a few more days. I submersed my curve in water about a year ago. It took about 2 weeks TOTAL, but at the end, it was working perfectly with no underlying issues. Now, with that being said, I wonder if the cleaning solution you used damaged any of the internal parts?

I used that famous LCD cleaner a couple of years ago and fried solid and permanent a 8310 .No rice or whatever saved me then... Stay away from stuff - rather use a very clean microfibre cloth (keep it only for the BB), and for the fringes and in between keys, a very soft, 1 inch paint prush. It works!
    Good luck, though !

Hello fellow stackers, so after 2 days of waiting the phone seems to be working. I have had it on for 3 hrs now and everything working okay so far. I will keep monitoring the progress and will see how things fold out. Thanks very much for the support during this dark period

next time try wrapping it in a paper towel in a plastic bag of rice.... this way it only soaks up the moisture from the phone and not the entire room...

Blackberrys are alot tougher than they look. My daughter threw my 8310 into a bowl of water and it died. Left it next to the heater for 2 days and it worked, amazing.
