Doughdaddy.... GPS only works with VZ nav and that isn't functioning on the Curves until the 9th when the actual release date hits. I can't even access the program! I tried for a few hours with CSR's with no luck. MMS doesn't work yet either! I can send but cannot receive!
I was told that they will both be functioning fine on the 9th or 12th.

Rumor has it they will be opening up GPS on VZW soon. It was supposed to be a few weeks after they released VZ Nav 4.1 which they did last Friday. So I was hoping that it would be available on the 8330 when it got released. Will have to wait and see.

Yourock, it came with the leather case that puts the BB into standby mode when you slide it in. I actually really like it... it's the same style as the one they send with the 8130

That would be awesome! When you go to BlackBerry maps > Options it shows GPS Settings. Under GPS Source it says None! But when you go to Advanced Options > GPS it shows Device.

So with that, I don't know what to say as far as whether it has GPS or disabled. If it's disabled I would assume it's via Software and not hardware disabled. I really hope they do open it! I like VZNav, but open source GPS as it was meant to be would be nice. With some of the new options that VZNav has, I would more than likely keep it. I was in Chicago last week and used it a lot with my Pearl.

LPTruth, if you haven't yet, read this thread. The Curve and VZ Nav 4.1 was called two weeks ago, before they came out:

Ahhh, very interesting Doughdaddy!! How awesome would that be if they make GPS available. As much as I use it, I get my 10 bucks worth and might actually keep it for the xtras they offer with 4.1. Who knows, I keep trying to load it onto my 8330, or atleast keep trying to find a back door to a download! Can't find anything as of yet that seems to work!

    love it!

Was able to go to my local store firstthing friday morning at 10AM and pick mine and the wifie's up. Just went for mine but she decided she wanted it to. we are now both addicted and official CrackBerrys. VZ nave went live this morning so that was nice but GPS still not running yet. it is still use cell towers to locate your postition. But the store manager when i picked them up said they were not disabling the GPS and it to should come up as well by monday the 12th. Damn it better i have GEOCACHES to find.
