Yes, you can. Some carriers charge extra for that however. What device do you have and which carrier?

Settings will also be different based on carrier, but here's a link with instructions on tethering:

You'll need to get a Data Connect plan from them, then, which I believe is about 60 bucks a month:

    It's free on t-Mobile!!

Just pay the $20/month for the data plan and voila!

    Change carriers!

I'm with rogers and its part of our $30/6gig plan. Finally rogers offered something that can be closely competetive to US plans.

I'm with at&t, I have the $30 unlimited data plan. Unfortunately the tethering is another $30. My original two-year contract had unlimited data for $45, but also included tethering. Ironically, I never was able to use my old device to tether, as I needed a software upgrade, but had no access to Internet.

Anyway, if you change your mind and want to try the tethering, there is software you must download from at&t, also (or so I was told by a CSR). If there is another way, I don't know about it--and certainly not one for free. I'd be curious to know, but for me it changes nothing, being bound to a contract.
