My guess is the the clients themselves are fine, and that the actual fix will be a result of something that either RIM or T-Mobile does on their servers -- either configuring servers or gateways properly, or sending additional service books.

In the meantime, having the software - even the same version - available on your PC provides advantages:

    - you can reload your device if needed
    - you can selective add / remove software to your 8320 through the desktop manager
    - you can unlock all the vendor themes and move them to your 8320

If that's so then shouldn't the 8820 OS work on the 8800?

edit:: yes, if RIM stays with the way they have been doing things, then the 8800 OS *should* work...

i'll be the test subject for testing this OS on my 8300 (i seriously think it WILL work)

    installing now.

supersoak - to upgrade your BB's OS, you will need to use a PC.

hopefully we will see wireless/OTA upgrades in the near future

As I recall, we saw hints of OTA upgrades in the screenshots of 4.3, n'est-ce pas?

Well I tried the 8820 OS on my 8800. Didn't work, nothing updated

I uninstalled the 8800 OS then installed the 8820 OS and deleted the VEndor.xml file. That did nothing.
Then I edited the Vendor.xm file and changed the value of the devicehwid so that it was the same for all newer versions of the updated OS. That did nothing. I wonder if anyone else has tried this with their 8800

No one has a clue as of yet Terrapin
At least I think so. If it were so then that 8820 OS should work for the 8800 but there doesn't seem to be anyone who has tried to do that either

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Isn't there also a "Device.xml" file included with each OS? If that were renamed, moved, or deleted, would it not trick DM into loading it onto a regular 8300? Or maybe altering the file somehow?

Just a thought. I'll be trying this out when I get home tonight.
