Are you connecting the Curve through a front panel USB port? If so, try plugging it in behind the computer and see what that gives you.

And this is the OEM cable that came with your Curve? If it is, try another cable, like if you have a camera cable that fits. My Sony cable has subbed for my OEM BlackBerry cable on occasion with no adverse effects.

Disable USB power saving mode on the computer.

    USB Resources

Uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Click "OK" and repeat for all other "USB Root Hubs. ...

Sometimes the Blackberry Desktop Manager needs to be installed for the computer to properly sense/power/charge the BB device.

Guess it doesn't really matter at this point, concluded it was the BB. I've got one with a bent pin, I wonder if I can get att to replace it. I was worried they'd just bring up the old physical damage bit.

Fondoo, did the new cable solved the problem? Note that Windows SP2 and beyond has a power management issue with USB ports.
