ballr, Try this thread, Straight line instructions to activate Vendor Themes (Except 8130). You will need to edit your own blackberry.alx file, but this way you are sure to have the correct alx file and you can control which of the themes you install. I'm always wary of using a bb.alx file that is for a different version than tthe one I'm using. Too risky that a file name has changed in the update.

That thread you used, was only done because the Process I provided causes a conflict between two vendor themes on the 8130. You shouldn't have any problem with that conflict. It is not the thread you linked in your original post in this thread.

What is different about your Home Screen? Can you describe it?

    Re: Unlocking Vendor Themes Help!!

And you can't select any theme? I'm going to suggest you start all over and use the process I posted above. It should work, but you may need to re-execute the last Device Software Download file to get back to a base to work from. And make sure you don't miss any steps. And that process is based on using the default install location the Device Software installer wants to use.

    Good luck

How did you wipe the device? Using the Security Wipe on the BB? That will only wipe date.

I suggest you use the thread I provided. It is more straight forward and works fine. You have messed up your BB by following other threads so why not try that one. I can't believe that Notepad on vista is that much different than on Windows XP. Just Open the blackberry.alx file and when you're though editing just click the File/Save Menu option.
