Question Unlocked TMO 8320 - now what?

So I unlocked my TMO Curve. Just to do it. What are some of the benefits to having the curve unlocked? As far as I understand, I can now use other carriers sim cards in the phone. ok. Is the phone now similar to the 8830 world phone, in other words, can I visit other countries and still use my phone? That would be cool. What other benefits are there to the unlocked phone?

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~You can now use a GSM sim card in your phone. You can switch carriers, from TMo to ATT for example. And you have better re-sale value now.

call up tmobile, and if you have been under contract for a few months, you can ask them for the code. just tell them you are traveling out of the country and want to sue a prepaid sim card. they will hook you up

Yeah, that worked with me. It took Tmobile to send you a confirmation of your request with 24 hr to request from them. It took them 7 days to send you the code.

Since the 8320 is a GSM phone, it will work in European countries regardless if it's unlocked or not. You just have to deal with nasty international roaming charges and such. The prepaid SIM is the way to go if you're traveling in Europe.
And yes, the resale value is another added benefit.
Or if you're paranoid, you could use prepaid SIM cards and pay cash, then switch them out after you arrange your mafia business operations.

I have an unlocked Tmo 8320. Benefit you would get are
    (a) You are not locked down with a single carrier
    (b) If you are a frequent traveller to europe/Asian countires, you could probably buy a pre-paid card in those countries and do away with expensive roaming charges.

If I were to unlock my tmo curve and then grab an ATT sim card, will the internet run at 3G or whatever they have, or will it still use Edge?

It will not run @ 3G speeds, because the Curve does not support 3G
