Question Trackball light turning Red and rubber coat chipping?

Is anyone noticing their trackball is turning red? I had a similar issue with my 2nd Pearl. The track ball is no longer pearly white, it has a red tint. And, no... my hands aren't dirty or anything.lol

Another interesting observation - I noticed today that at the top of the curve, where the rubber meets the plastic on the face, the rubber coating is starting to chip away in very tiny pieces. I've had my curve for less than 1 week and I am a pretty avid user, however, I keep a microfibre cloth with me and I try to take good care of all of my handsets.

Anyone seeing the same issues? It's tough to see the chips on the rubber but if you can zoom into the image you'll see what I'm talking about.

Never seen either of those buddy -

A trip to your local Rogers store for an exchange is well justified, IMO... Good luck!

I think a red track ball means error but if its working it could be a bug in the BBs OS. I know the track ball can have about 5 colors like red, white, blue, green, yellow. Normally the only color you will see is red when there is a error and the other colors are not used but someone could make (and there is a program like this out there) a program to change the color of the track ball so if you want a blue colored track ball you can change the LED color to blue. What could have happened to you is that somehow your OS got messed up and its stuck on the red color. If your BB is still under warranty I would just return it, if not then try reloading the OS though the Desktop and start new. If that does not work (and it should) try looking for that track ball color changing program.

The curve supposedly doesn't have colored LEDs for the trackball... the only obvious answer to me is something red from your hands.

No clue about the chipping plastic... strange.

Ya, I know that the BB 8100 does. I have not tested to see if the 8300 has a color track ball and I have not read anything about it. That is the only thing I can think of when it comes to the color changing on his 8300.

Sadly The 8300 does not have the colored LED's under the trackball...one of the main things I miss about my Pearl

It might be from the case, the inner lining of your case might be red or have some red in it and everytime you put it in and pull it out it is getting red. Did that sound right?

I think it may just be defective. Either there is some error or the light is just cooked. I'm just going to reset the phone and return it to Rogers. Thanks for the help/.

The 8300s are very new so I am not surprised that people are having little problems with it.

If you're woth Rogers just reset your phone so the call timers and everything are at 0 minutes and default setup. Tell them you haven't reached your thirty minutes and the phone is stuck in a reset mode. They will give you brand new one.
