Trackball Fell Out
The trackball on my 8310 fell out when I dropped it. Are there any shortcuts (using the keypad) so that I can access my messages - text and e-mail ??
only if you have "dial from homescreen" turned off.
messages is M
i don't think there is a shortcut to txt
did you lose the ball when it fell out?
I assume you don't have a convenience key set to messages AND sms/mms in the same inbox as email... Sorry to hear that.
"Who Dares Wins"
Yes, still have the trackball. The 'm' key doesn't work and I'm sure that dial from homescreen is off. If I use the sim card in another phone can I retrieve the messages ?
if the M doesn't work then you don't have dial from homescreen set to off.
can you not push the trackball back in?
You need to reposition the assembly so hangers are to the l & r, dropping it into aperature. Take the retaining ring and position three prongs at 9-6-3, gently pushing it back in.
To use shortcuts (aside from what menu provides) you must have had dial from home screen off prior to incident. If that is the case, let me know, and I'll provide some instructions

Would love to but the whole housing setup has disintegrated. I'm going to see if I can buy spares and attempt the repair myself..................... fingers crossed.
Thanks............. unfortunately the hangers have broken off. I'm going to see if I can buy those as spares.
You sure can replace it...
These guys ship from New Mexico. Can pay them to overnight it:
This is the company I use, their trackballs are outstanding.
