    define "responding to input"

Depending on the situation cleaning it may have solved the problem.

depressing the trackball would not produce the 'select' or 'enter' command. trackball worked directionally, but not as a button.

no warning signs... i use the auto on/off function... it turned off one night, and when it came on the next morning, nada!

Hmm...Have you tried removing the trackball from the blackberry and seeing if it dirty? How old is your curve?

i dont feel qualified to remove the trackball, nor do i feel i should have to remove it (i didnt sign up for the DIY curve). moving parts fail... so be it... however, in above posts i note that the trackball is still directionally functional, its the button underneath thats not working...

mine was purchased on monday september 24, 2007. i was planning on getting it the first avail day, but it was actually released two days earlier... i didnt know that until i got it on the 24th.
