    Total Memory Question

After much kicking and screaming I forced my wife into a Pearl..so as I am setting it up for he I notice the file total on the pearl is 64xxxxxx makes sense on a device that is a 64mb device. Now my 8320 is a 64mb device too but its file total is 52xxxxxx... What's up with that?? Should the 8320 not show 64xxxxxx total too?

    Re: Total Memory Question

I am in the same situation... I have a pearl and and an 8310. I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I think it is just the way that the 8320 is dividing up the file memory and the media memory. I believe this can actually be a problem with the pearl for some users, but is correct on the curve. You can change the way the devices divide up the memory too btw... just a setting in the device media menu.

I don't believe it is the wifi, because i have the 8300 and I have 55xxxxxx when my sisters pearl has 64xxxxxx.

I think the phone just displays memory differently.

A phone that displays 64 MB total isn't including the OS in the main number and takes that amount of memory from the Free, and probable shows less free RAM.

A phone that displays less than 64 total probably has already taken the amount for the OS taken from the total memory, and will probably show more free RAM.

    Just a guess here.

Either your card somehow formatted to 1 gig or well, that's not right. Anything on the card? If not I'd try and format it again.

that sounds about right even if you dont have anything on it. you never get 'exactly' 1g, 2g, 12g so on
