The "thing" under the trackball (8300)

First of all.. i lost my trackball so i had to use my pointingfinger? to push where the trackball was before.

Now i ordered a new trackball and the ring around it. But it wont work.. It does not push the way it did before.. Before i could feel the trackball move when i pushed it.. Now sometimes i almost dont have to touch it before it pushes..

You understand what i mean ?

Everything fits perfect.. but under the trackball there must be something missing.. how do i solve this?

I also tryed to blow compressed air at it but it did not help :/

Not quite haha. But when you say you replaced the trackball, did you replace the whole trackball assembly or did you actually put a new plastic ball in the old assembly? Also where did you get your replacement from?

I bought the replacement from ebay.
I replaced the whole trackball assembly..

If you remove both the O ring.. and the ball.. If you use your finger to push now the finger will work as the trackball.. (not moving right and left though). But you can push like the ball would push.

But now when i try to push the ball inward? i cant feel that it is pusing.. its just rockhard. No feeling at all..
Before i could feel like "click".. i dont know how to explain. I could feel the ball click the button. But the click thing is gone.. its just like pushing a stone or whatever :P

If you remove the new ring ad trackball, does it still respond to a finger push? I'm thinking that either you caused damage by using your finger, or, that the trackball you purchased is faulty.

make sure the new ball is clocked correctly. There is 2 alignment pins that need to fit into holes on the blackberry itself. If not it'll sit too high.

Yepp.. aztar i think i caused damage with my finger. Beacuse it worked for me the first 5, 6 days. Then one day it did not work anymore.. it works but really bad. Sometimes i just have to easliy touch the trackball and it think i push it,.

    Jonesjj: yepp.. its fitted correctly

So there is no solution to this? Can i get the "push" thing working again?

You could see if there is a local cell phone repair shop if you are out of warrany and have no insurance. I don't think its something you can fix yourself. There's an online shop called bbrepair shop, they are expensive though.

Maybe someone else has a better idea for you.

Let me ask a question...with the track ball removed and looking at the board, the dead-center of the white part of the pressure switch pad: Is there a clear, small round piece of plastic? (It is raised above the white pad.)

Sorry, might have to zoom on pic to see arrow.

This is just a shot in the dark, but if that piece was removed by accident it will not depress correctly or at all.

There are 2 points of contact, a "silver" spoon looking piece on the trackball assembly, minus the chrome ring, and a "gold" circle contact on the contatct board. I'd either 2 are missing or damaged, you have no contact. You can buy the whole component for both "contact pieces" seperately. My guess is that its the second one that's is worn out from using ur finger. The trackball eases pressure on the contact. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

    Bbparts.com ... Possibly

Its a component that I think is either all the buttons, or the just the ones next to the track ball.
