    The dreaded message...

Hello I'm new this forum and BB in general. I just purchased a Curve 8310 (my first smart phone ) last week and I was trying to add a third party theme and I'm getting the dreaded message "No additional applications designed for your device were found."

I noticed my BB software is 4.2.2.170 and my device manager is 4.3.017 should I unstalled the device manager and download the older 4.2 service park 2 version and uploading themes etc should work?

    Thank you in advance.

no, you need to download and install your device software onto your PC. then you will be set and ready to load themes.

As in the Desktop Manager? If so, it is installed. I apologize if this all sounds strange but I'm not that computer savy.

Sorry I missed the link you provided. What do I download for the 8310? Eveything seems international.

You need to download and install the Device Operating System (you called it the BB software).

I thought I did that. When I open Desktop Manager then go to About Blackberry Desktop Manager then to Device Software I see the "V.2.2.170 (Platform 2.5.0.30 for the BB 8310 Series wireless" listed.

You're looking for "BlackBerry 8310 Wireless Handheld (EDGE) v4.x.x.xxx." On my Pearl 8100 it's listed as "BlackBerry 8100 Wireless Handheld (EDGE) 4.2.1.109."

Got ya so handheld edge is the key? I do not see it listed on the BB website though.

Thank you very much by the way.

    yarg, looks good to me.
can you try a different theme? or, instead of clicking add to install the theme, scroll down the list of applications and see if the theme is listed, check/uncheck box (whatever is appropriate, i can't rememeber) and click next on application loader. maybe DM already recognizes it as downloaded?

Oddly enough I got the theme onto my phone. I got the "No additional applications designed for your device were found." but then that quickly went away and I was able to choose the theme I wanted from my desktop and added it to the phone.

Thank you everyone for taking the time out to help me.

    I apprecaite it.

btw; the iphone theme is very nice.
