Swapping Address book data from an 8320

Quick question for you guys in the know – I’m just about to upgrade my 8320 to a 9700 – my brother wants to buy the 8320 and is getting impatient so being the nice brother I am I’ve backed up the 8320 and am going to use my old Pearl until the 9700 lands.
I have a problem in that I’ve tried to restore the Pearl with the 8320 data but it will not update the Pearl’s address book , the Pearl just retains its old address book entries. There must be a away of dealing with this and I’m certainly not doing a wipe on the 8320 until I’ve sorted the address book issue . Can anyone help please – bearing in mind I’ll also need to update the 9700 with the 8320s current address book from the pearl . I’ve probably missed something glaringly obvious but be gentle !

Try using DM > Device Switcher... it worked great when I went from my 8900 to my 9700... at the end it will ask you to put your old device back on to wipe it, but you can say no to that, but that is after it has moved everything onto your new/old Pearl.

Don't forget to change your PIN/IMEI settings in your BIS account, too, so you'll get your e-mails, etc to your old/new device(s)!

Whereabouts is the Device Switcher buried in the menus?

It's in the Desktop Manager Software. Do you have that loaded on your PC/laptop? If not, you'll find a link to download it in the Technical Support Blog link in my signature.

Once that's installed, connect your device(s) to the PC/laptop, launch DM and you'll see the Switch Device Wizard on the main screen.

I guess since you've done a backup, you already have the Desktop Manager.
