    Question Strange Memory Readings ....

After I installed my 2GB memory card, I downloaded some music. Before I started the download, I displayed the properties (when the 8300 was connected by USB to the desktop) and it indicated that the "drive" had 2GB of memory. So after I downloaded the music, I selected:

Media > Music > Albums > [an album]

and pressed the Menu button and selected Options.

To my surprise, it indicated a "Device Memory Limit" of 12MB, not 2GB.

Apparently, I downloaded the music into the 8300's main memory, not the flash drive.

    Suggestions ??

PS: The music is stunning! Played back over a Radio Shack over-the-ear headset (in ear devices just don't work for me). Wow!

I'm not totally sure what your question is. If you downloaded the songs to your device memory than you have to delete them and copy them to your memory card. Be sure to format your card in the options, memory card on the BB.

Not sure if this helps you at all.lol

Question Re: Strange Memory Readings ....

I just formatted my Media Card. It indicates 1.8 GB memory available. A few things I don't understand.

"Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected" ... should this be Yes or No?

Should Mass Storage Support Mode be On ?

I assume "Media Card Support" should be On. I'm only storing music on the 8300, so I see no need for encryption.

However, the strangest thing is that all my music tracks are gone!

What do you suggest I do?

To download files to the media card the Mass Storage Mode (MSM) must be On when you're connected by USB. To view what is on it, from the BlackBerry it self, when connected by USB MSM must be off.

    Hope this helps.

To see how much stuff is on the memory card you go to: Options > Media Card and it will be listed at the bottom.
