Is there any way to limit the amount of programs running in the background? After a hard reset the same programs always seem to be running and I can't shut them down.

ptt and the web don't need to be running in my opinion. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Certain programs always run, PTT, browser, messages, and call log screen. Others, you should be able to close down. The ones that always run a vital services to you phone. You can remove the PTT app if you'd like. Check some of the stickies to remove some unused parts of your OS like PTT, sample songs and videos, unused vendor themes are more.

Removing (or rather supressing) PTT is a vital first step in using the BB. Just having to move past it in the task switcher is a huge pain. Def. consult the sticky in this forum on how to get rid of it.

The browser can not be removed, nor the phone or messages. Dcook: how is PTT a vital service? Is it hooked in to normal calling stuff somehow?

Well, if you're using the PTT, it doesn't do much good on your phone if you have to always turn it on. It's like your emails, the push feature wouldn't be much good if you had to start your email program every time you wanted to check your messages, it's just running. It's like the Nextel phones, direct connect is always working. Or else when people chirped you nothing would happen.
