Years ago, I used to have a pair that plugged into my Walkman and if we were out camping, all you had to do was plug them into the earphone jack and you had instant music that everyone could enjoy.

How compatible would the earphone jack on this model be with any plug in speaker set? Is the jack exclusive to Blackberry or is it universal?

    Its the same.
You can plug in any speakers that use the standard 3.5mm jack.

These are one of my favorites. The sound is amazing from such a small package. Lithium Ion and charges from mini USB. No they won't fill a concert hall or deliver groundshaping bass. but a great little portable package.

I picked up a cheapy $5 folding speaker set for an Ipod from Big Lots last summer. It has a small tray that snaps on the front for the Ipod that fits my 8300 perfectly. It's not the greatest in sound, but I had music all weekend when I was camping on the same set of AA batteries. I did have to turn the wireless off because the speakers would pick up the interference. I'm not sure if that is solved with a higher-end set or not...
But for $5 I was impressed...

Haha, I was going to recommend this one, too. Actually, I was going to recommend the Cingular/AT&T one, but it looks the same, but has a different logo.
