Question Speaker Loudness BB8320 vs BB8900

Ok, I've had my BB8900 for over three weeks and I love it. BUT!!!

My wife has a BB8320 and it seems that her phone has a louder speaker when comes to ringers/notification tones.

I’ve tested this theory by setting up both phone side by side with the same exact settings playing the same exact audio file. My wife and I are certain that the BB8320 is louder then my BB8900.

I need my BB8900 speaker louder for ringers/notification tones as I work/play around noisy equipment/toys.

    Please help?

Any soft mods that can made to increase my speaker volume?

    Thanks
    Spider

Set it on vibrate and put it in your pocket.

Hey Spider-check out my post in another forum......it may just help you especially if your ring tones are mp3's. Also, make sure audio boost is activated on your phone. Regards

I also replaced my back cover on the curve with a Seidio back cover--it has holes directly over the speaker and allows it to "breathe" a little better. Don't know what RIM is doing but my brother just upgraded from his 8310 to a 8900. While he loves the 8900, he also admits that the sound on the 8900 (he implied that is both volume and quality) was not as good as the 8310.

It was just brought to my attention that with newer os's the speaker's loudness will increase. For instance the new 4.6 os is supposed to correct the speaker problem among other things. Perhaps check into a new os.

BestWitted, I located and turn On audio boost, Indeed it does increase the volume unfortanitly it appears it only affects play back when playing a file from my BB Media player. I just tested the play back from my Audio Profile Setting - High it appears to not follow the loundness that it does in Media player.

I believe it was the .152 OS that had the very load ringers. You might want to try that OS. It is an official release. The newer beta releases are not as loud.

I find my 8900 speaker to be very loud, almost too loud even to the point that it crackles when i listen to certain things. Maybe it is just the design of the housing but its loud
