    Something is draining my battery

Is there a way to tell what applications are running at a given time? Something is draining my battery (a full charge is almost dead in a day and a half with limited to no usage). I've exited all apps I know I'm using, but it still seems like something is running. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Holding the Alt button and pressing the return key will bring up a horizontal scroll list of all of your running applications.

Remember that the messages, phone, and blackberry messenger
Applications always run in the background and can't be closed.

When I press ALT+return all I get is a list of languages to use. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to hit something else?

    Hi wasanka

Actually you need to hold the alt key down and hit Escape. Continue to hold the alt key and you can scroll thru the list....

I don't use the gmail app, but I do have my gmail account running through my BB email server. Could that be it?

    Sci-Tek -

Thanks, I tried Hayden's tips, but most of them already were being used, or didn't apply to me.

Maybe its just that my battery is crapping out early?

It may be due to blue tooth or any applications you have running in the backround.

for laptops I know that at optimal usage after 1 year, the battery is at 70% maximum.

Could it be like cindylov4 said, bluetooth (BT shoudn't drain this much tho).

Its known that IM applications eats a lot, and if you've got WLAN you might want to disable that.

Also i've experienced that using media player really eats the battery aswell..

From my knowledge your apps don't really have much to do with your battery draining... if your WIFI is turn on...that will drain your battery quick because your phone is constantly looking for a Hotspot. Make sure it is completely turned off and see if that helps. Once you do that drain your battery out completely then plug in to charge completely before removing the charger from it, this way you will reset the battery memory.

Your knowedge is incorrect. The more apps open and the more memory is used, the more energy requirements to constantly maintain and update that memory, therefor more battery usage (same thing as with a laptop, more apps open and in use, the greater the battery drain). Will the average user notice the digfference, probably not, but it is there. Also, the wifi on these devices is optimized enough not to have the constant drain that you are describing. You will get a little bit more drain than having a non-wifi device or no wifi turned on on the device, but not to the extent that is described by the OP. I leave mine on 24/7 and with several calls a day and over 200 e-mails sent and received a day, I average about 2 days between charges (the wife has the same results if not better than I do, although she gets less e-amils than I).

I couldn't find out which device the OP has (just said Curve) and maybe I missed the specifics, but if the OP has the 8310, having the GPS on will definitely kill the battery in the time period described, and even sooner. Others whom have had the same thing with the 8310, have found that if they installed Berry411 and didn't change the location setting to home (from the default GPS installation settings) that it would try to contact the GPS periodically and the battery died rather quickly (even though BB411 didn't appear to be running).

Do you have a sd card installed? I had a defective 4gb micro sd card and it drained my battery in a matter of a few hours. I tried everything before figuring out that the sd card was the culprit. Once I replaced the card with a new 4 gb card, I haven't had a problem since.

    Hope this helps.

    Aloha!!!

Hey guys. I have the same problem as well. I have the 8800. When I leave my BB to charge, it will tell me it is full. But when I check my BB at the end of the day, my battery is almost half gone. Can't tell what is causing it. Any comments or suggestion will be appreciated.

Re: Something is draining my battery

I was losing a lot of battery by leaving my Bluetooth on all the time, so I set one of the convenience keys to manage bluetooth so it is not such a pain to turn on in the car.
