okay i have a blackberry curve 8310, my carrier is AT&T. i had a password set on my device and i forgot it and i had 3 attempts to get it right and i didnt. my phone did some weird stuff and then turned off. everytime i try to turn it back on i get a screen that says "JVM Error 513" with a button that you can click that says "RESET". so i click reset, and the same screen keeps coming up..

can someone, ANYONE please help me? i'm using a really crappy phone right now so i would like to figure out what the heck happened.. not sure if anyone knows or can help me but i will take any assistance or ideas that i can get at this point.

    sorry for the long post,
    and thanks in advance

If you have JL_CMDER you can do a complete WIPE of the phone. Once you do this there is NO OPERATING SYSTEM on the phone.

You will need to open Desktop Manager and plug in the phone. It will not show up as connected. Click on the Device Connected link and select the device from the list provided.

Then click on Application Uploader. At this point the process of reinstalling the OS will start.

30 - 40 minutes you have your BB back. If you have a current backup you can restore your BB to where you were before it screwed up. Once you have done all this, login to your BIS account on your computer and resend your service book.

    Hope this helps.

thank you, i'll get started on that now.

    few questions though:
    1) BIS?
    2) if i have pictures on there not saved to the SIM card but to the actual phone, will they be erased?
    3) JL_CMDER? what is it? how do i get it?

Here are instructions for using jl_cmndr, including the download. Will not work with Windows Vista, however, unless it has been upgraded.

You will also need the a version of Desktop Manager on your PC which you can get here.

And most importantly, you will need a copy of your device operating system on the PC as well. What version of the OS were you running?

BlackBerry Internet Service - this is where you will have set up your e-mails to push to your device.

Yes, you will lose your pictures.

    jl_cmndr, please see above post.

    jra,

Click on My Blog, you will find links where you can download and install the latest operating system by carrier or by device, as well as a How To Upgrade thread that will walk you through re-installing your device operating system.

You can try just reinstalling the Operating System without running JL_Cmder if you like. But you have entered the incorrect password 10 time and as a security measure all the data is gone from your device.

    Post back any questions.

That is most likely an error code 507, which means you have no OS on your device.

Download and install the current OS for your device from here.

Then download and install the latest Desktop Manager software from here.

Then follow the instructions here, starting where it says to delete the vendor.xml file.
