So, think this is the phone for me?

    - I want it for the Wifi and QWERTY keyboard.
    - Will get a texting plan but NO data/blueberry plan.
    - Plan to use AIM messaging with Wifi.

    What do you guys/gals think?

(Also, question, will I be able to get a messaging client onto my BB and use it with wifi without having a BB plan?)

a lot of the messaging clients may not work over wifi. The only one I know with wifi support is JiveTalk.

My opinion, you really wanna enjoy the 8320 - you need the unlimited BB data plan.

It's an extra $20 a month for something I don't really need. On campus, I have wifi access at all times.

The New 8120 Pearl also has wifi and is 100.00 cheaper. Plus has Video. Have you checked that one out too?

Oh, sorry you said you wanted the qwerty keyboard too. The Pearl is suretype but it has been improved with the 4.3 OS.

8120 is the real deal now, but what if you leave the campus and go on a trip or go home and see that folks, then a BB plan is the way to go

I also have Wifi at home =)

The 8120 is also one of my main choices, however, I don't see it being a huge improvement over my Sony Ericsson k550i though, the T9 predictive text works fine, so upgrading to a Suretype and still using predictive text isn't as big of a jump as going to QWERTY.

I would have alot of options now if I wasn't sticking to T-Mobile but meh.

if you do a lot of texting/emailing then the full keyboard is what you want. some folks swear by the suretype keyboard, but I had an 8100 and could not get used to it.

if you're not going to be using it for email, then you won't need a data plan. but a blackberry without email is like a car without wheels. i find that i use my blackberry most when i am away from wifi signals. i have wifi at work and home, but i also have computers there. basically, no email = no need for data plan.

I use the exact same setup as you speak of. Wifi app are very limited but soon it will be better than a data plan
