How quick did you get the battery out after gettin it wet.
I got my old pearl wet and left in on a window sill for 3 to 4 days with the battery out and cover off to dry. And it did get back working again. It just took time.
    Hope it makes it back.

The key is to let it dry completely... some suggest putting it in rice, or other moisture-absorbing substance (silica gel?!...like you find in envelopes in the packing of some electronics ).

Get the battery out and wait a couple of days.

Do as suggested, pull the battery and let it dry for a couple days. You may have already damaged the electronics... But you will not know for sure if it is not COMPLETELY dry...

Okay thanks! Actually it's been a couple of days already since it's been wet. I already dried it out. I'm just wondering how come the phone powers but the screen shows blank.

There might be moisture in hard-to-reach parts that takes more time to dry out.

If it's already been a few days, it sounds like it's too late. Warranty has been voided. She will have to go thru the insurance (if she got it within 14 days of purchase) to have the device replaced or face out of warranty charges. This happened to me (except I had already had the replacement before I found out about how the insurance works).

If you're handy and can take it apart remove the motherboard from the chassis and the LCD from the motherboard. Then soak the motherboard in either denatured alcohol or distilled water for at least 20 minutes to neutralize the corrosive agents on the electrical connections. A gentle scrubbing with an old toothbrush will help with the parts you have access to- some of the shields are actually soldered on so getting underneath them might not be possible. If you'd like to use a hair dryer just remember to keep it on LOW. Lastly, be patient and don't expect any miracles as ultimately it comes down to how long the battery was left in to provide the energy for the corrosion to take place. I hope this helps you-good luck!
