Separating internet email from "Messages" folder

    Hi all:

First time user - love it! I scoured the search function results and couldn't find anything quite fitting the description of my topic.

I have TMobile and I have my work email going to the "messages" folder. I also set up an Internet Mail folder to receive my hotmail emails.

I noticed that my main "messages" folder is bringing in both my work email and my hotmail email. Is there any way I can separate/filter this so that my work email goes to my "messages" folder and my hotmail goes to my "internet mail" folder?

    Thanks!

I think Empower has an application that will allow you to seperate the BES (I am assuming this is the Corporate email that you are referring to) and internet e-mail accounts. Check them out at www.getempower.com

you have nothing filled out on your profile for what type of device you have, what version operating system, if you have BIS or BES... these things help to give answers.

If you are on BIS with a newer OS (assuming 8300 from this thread) try looking in Messages \ Options \ General Options \ SMS and Email Inboxes (Combined, Separated, theme controled)

    Thanks.

I have the 8300. I am on BIS.

I already have chosen "Separated" to separate emails from SMS, but that does not resolve my issue of separating my internet mail (hotmail) from my "messages" folder.

    Thanks!

What is the theme change supposed to do, specifically?

Re: Separating internet email from "Messages" folder

The messages folder is a catch all that will collect all of your inbound email from all accounts. I do not beleive you can filter this folder.

You should have individual inboxes for each account you have set up (at least I do - I hide them). I am not completly familiar with the 8300 OS but I would think it is similar. So if you have 2 email accounts you are pushing with the BIS I would think you have 3 inbox folders, messages, you@work.com, and you@hotmail.com. Is this not the case?

Gary, you are correct. I do indeed have a separate folder/icon for my hotmail email, but as you say, it also comingles with my work emails in my catchall "messages" folder/icon. I am trying to seprate these internet specific emails (hotmail) from my messages folder, but seems like you're saying that's not possible.

    Thanks all.

Did you check out the link I provided above as they have BES Mailbox app that I think does what you are wanting? It is a third party app and maybe your work won't allow that? If not I don't think that it can be done.

Re: Separating internet email from "Messages" folder

Why not just "hide" the Messages folder and use the two individual folders. That's what I do. Or are you saying that you want the messages seperated inside the folder? If so, I don't think that's possible.

    Haggisgirl:
He can't hide the folder as BES mail only goes to the general folder, there is no secondary folder created by a BES.

Re: Separating internet email from "Messages" folder

so did you try another theme ? There are some themes that still override the settings. Doesn't hurt anything to try and verify that when you do Messages is still at Separate
