    Running Redirector on BIS problem

I'm running BB redirector at work. The company is running MS exchange 2003 server. The Desktop Redirector is currently running for about 1 hour, but nothing has been sent to my BB device.

The filtered statistics seems to be moving, but that's about it.

    Any ideas?

    rheng,

Is there a reason you choose to use Redirector? Have you tried using BIS instead?

is BIS doing the auto forwarding rules set in Outlook? If so, my company does not allow auto forwarding due to company policies. I just want to be able to receive email on my BB device. I was told that Redirector would do the trick.

the company does not have BES, I'm just using what is available to me.

Re: Running Redirector on BIS problem

BIS is using the Blackberry Internet Service to retreieve emails from your server and push them to your device. If you have your email password try this....there are 2 ways to set up your go into your set up. From your 8310 you should have a set up internet email icon. That should lead you to a page where you can "add and Email Account" (may take a cuple of clicks along the way....) Or you can do this on your carriers BIS web page (your profile does not mention your carrier -- post that info and we can lead you to the correct page)

You will need to make sure that you have OUTLOOK on your Desktop set to "Leave Messages on the Server" (you will find this under advanced accont settings on Outlook) or else Outlook will sweep the server before the BB gets a chance....

I beleive you will find this a cleaner more reliable way to use your BB email functions. Post back any questions.

    My provider is AT&T.

But I can tell the redirector to take it from a specific folder right? So even if the email leaves the server, if I told it to go to a specific folder it should still redirect it right?

If you wish to try this here is the link to your set up page:

Sorry, I am not sure what you are asking here, "But I can tell the redirector to take it from a specific folder right? So even if the email leaves the server, if I told it to go to a specific folder it should still redirect it right?"

If this is regarding the Leave Messages on Server setting that applies to using BIS. I am not real familiar with redirector but if you have a specific question I will try to help...By the way - did you ever get any emails to your BB yet?

Re: Running Redirector on BIS problem

In the BB Desktop Manager, under Email Settings, if you go to advance, it has an option of Inbox only and Selected Folders. I thought that if you selected "Selected Folders" that would mean to go into those folders and redirect email from there.

I have receive email on my BB device, but not from the redirector. This is what I've been tryiing to do for the past week.

I cannot set up auto forward in my outlook rule because of company policies. So I'm trying to get work email forwarded to my BB device when I'm not at work. the company does not have BES. But I was told that BB Desktop Redirector would solve my problem. But I haven't gotten it to work yet.

I'll read the link you sent me. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

I've already set up my email account. But I can't add my work on there. When it asks for the URL, I don't know my works URL since it connects using SSL.

Re: Running Redirector on BIS problem

    going by the chart:

Email messages are being filtered, Filtered messages are not redirected to the handheld. ( there are no conditions except that my name is in the To: ( which means every email sent, should be redirected )

Email messages are sent to a Personal Folder.

I send myself a test email from another account to my work account. I see the filter statistic go up by one, but the email is sent to a personal Folder...No redirect to my device.

    Well.....

Did you try without the filter?

I also note that RIM indicates that if emails are being sent to a Personal Folder that may be your issue...

Sorry I am not that familiar with redirector. I will see if I can get some help from someone with more experience with that application....

No chance you can get the account set up on your ATT BIS page? You realize that to use ReDirector you have to leave your computer and outlook up and running 24 hours a day....
