    Rumour

I have a friend who works for Rogers and I asked him if he could hook me up with a Curve, he emails me a few days later saying that the Curve is being discontinued.

Anyone heard anything similar? what will they replace it with?

Dunno about that, maybe the original Curve (8300) but there are variants of the 8300 coming to carriers now. But again, I haven't heard about this.

They likely are replacing the 8300 with an 8310 with GPS, if indeed they are discontinuing.

When I spoke with the AT&T Rep about the 8300 he stated that it was the newest model out but they would there would be some variants of the 8300 but as far as he knew the 8300 was here to stay for awhile. I know it's only a rep so take it for what it's worth.

Maybe he meant the 8800? I mean, it can't be, because the curve just barely came out.

Well -- Rogers has 8310 at the same price-point as the 8300. Identical hardware however it has GPS chip.

Due to that there really is no point in them selling the 8300 anymore.

Wahh! You GSM people are retiring the Curve while I'm stuck here on Verizon with a double-crippled 8830 (GPS and media player) and can't even get a Curve.

The 8320 is coming out on the 24th, so I dont think the curve will be discontinued

I was on Verizon when the 8830 came out and thought the media player was ok... what issues are you having? BTW, I switched to at&t just to get the Curve. Fortunately the coverage is ok in the NYC area and after being with V for so long they absolutely wouldn't budge on their pricing so we had to part ways. Is that a consideration for you?

    Re: Rumour

I bought a Curve 8300 in June from Rogers. Frustrating that within three months the newer version -- with GPS -- is going for cheaper than what I originally paid. I assume nothing can be done by way of an upgrade since it's been 90 days. Any thoughts on how long I'd have to wait to be entitled to handset upgrade?

I can't speak for Rogers specifically, but here ( att) you typically have to wait until you are close to the time your contract is up before you can get what they call a "UPGRADE" to your phone or BB you are currently using....
