i want to completely restore my blackberry to how it was when i ... BlackBerry Curve forum
i want to completely restore my blackberry to how it was when i opened it out of the box.
i don't want to do the "wipe handheld" thing, cause it keeps stuff.
i backed up my important stuff, and now i just want to delete all of it, and start over with the 4.3 os.
how do i do this?
If you want to make sure that you get all the junk off your phone you want to reload the OS. Go into application loader and instead of clicking finish at the end click advanced. Then click to erase all application data, and erase all currently installed apps. Select the option to not auto back up and restore your info and then click on finish. If you would like to restore the info only, once done do a selective restore. This will bring the info back but not the other junk that comes along in a back up file. Hope it helps.
Instructs for a selective restore.
- Connect the BlackBerry device to your computer.
- Open the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager.
- Click Backup and Restore.
- Click Advanced.
- On the File menu, click Open.
- Double-click the backup (.ipd) file.
- In the Desktop File Databases section, select the database(s) to restore.
- Click the right arrow button.
- Click Yes.
Hey, I'm also trying to accomplish this similar task...after I got to the part before the selective restore, my phone is on the hourglass for a VERY long time now...I'm gonna continue to wait...
Okay I was just impatient...after waiting like 10-15 minutes, everything's fine, I'm SO HAPPY
