Remove Push to Talk from Switch Application

Ok, not sure if I can explain my question but here goes... When I use the "Switch Application" option or the Alt + Esc to go to open applications the "push to talk" icon is there. I don't want to use that feature because I haven't subscribed to it. Each time I click on it, it says charges will be be applied. I can't seem to figure out how to exit the application. I have hidden the application so if I could just get it closed I would be all set. I know it is something really simple... Thanks in advance for you help.

Some apps are always open, phone for example

I'm not familiar with the ptt application but you may try uninstalling it with app loader on your pc

Re: Remove Push to Talk from Switch Application

You explained it well. I too would like to get it off, but haven't figured out how. It's not in the Options/Advanced Options/Applications list, but if you go to modules it gan be found. But the module doesn't have the Delete option. And setting the connections property to Deny doesn't do anything. I took this problem to the Cingular Live Chat Data Forum and got no answer except that maybe when the OS is loaded We can remove it that way.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Kayos, but we need the AT&T software to do that and it's not available yet. I'll try that when I ger the OS.

No prob. It was an excellent suggestion, just a little premature unless I go for the O2 OS. I hadn't thought about doing this way.

I noticed on my 8800 w/ Cingular that it was not present. When I upgraded to the Rogers os it was present and I couldn't get rid of it. Not sure what made the difference between the two os's. I too would like to rid my running apps of that pesky little icon.

Okay you can't close the program or remove it from the switch app. Its just one of the programs that they wanted to be available all the time. What I did is going to freak you out but its okay.

On your windows machine you need to find the folder where desktop manager keeps its loader files. In there you will find a folder called java. In the java folder are all the application files that get loaded to the phone. Find the files labeled _ptt and move those files to a safe location. Plug the phone back in and open desktop manager and click on app loader. It should check through the phone and are that you have a program that your not supposed to and remove it. When you reboot the phone you will see that ptt is gone from both the switch app and the loaded programs.

I think the java folder is in program files, common, RIM, shared, loader, os version, java.

I can't seem to find the file on my PC.... I did a search for everything that contains ptt and included hidden files. What am I missing?

Have you installed the Curve OS download file on your PC? The java folder won't be there until you do.
If so, what OS version did you download and from what vendor.
