Question about Unlocking AT&T Curve 8310

When unlocking a AT&T Curve 8310, does the radio need to be turned off prior to starting the unlock? I so do you turn the radio off by going to "manage connections" and selecting "turn all connections off" or is the radio turned off in some other location?

    Thanks

i don't remember having to turn mine off...

Insert ATT (or Cingular) SIM card > power on > Settings > Advanced Options > SIM Card > type MEPD > type MEP[Alt + E]

I've unlocked a few successfully and I've always turned off the radio. I don't know why it is suggested, but the emails I got with the codes insisted.
