Question about downloading pic's in 4.5

    Fellow Pinheads,
i was wondering if it is possible to automatically download new pictures in your email when the are recieved??

    Currently i must "left click"
    "Get Images"
and click Yes when it says
"Downloading internet images can expose your address. Continue?"

Is there any way to side step all this
and to PreFetch the pics automatically???

    I have an 8310 with AT&T 4.5.0.55 (81)

    thanks in advance,
    Tom
    thx,
    Tom

    Pinheads.....LOL!

Even though you may have the setting for downloading images automatically turned on, there is still no avoiding the Get Images deal. Some people have said that after awhile, their images start loading without having to go through the manual request, but I have yet to see that happen in my case.

As you have noticed, the warning message is there for a reason, so not sure if this "feature" will ever be improved upon.

Hmm, not sure why it isn't dowloading them. My gmail works all the time, but my yahoo is sporadic with downloading pictures and banners, etc.

I don't think so, I didn't get pics before the upgrade (bvoisuly with no HTML e-mail), but I didn't change any of the settings within gmail and have been getting pics autmotically downloaded for the last week!

Just a thought, cause I really don't know, is it maybe an option that you have to enable on Yahoo?hotmail?msn? gmail?

Still waiting to upgrade .... so I haven't come across this option yet

    makes no sense

ok. So.. this makes no sense to me:

    1. enable HTML email: yes
    2. download images automatically: yes

Then WHY do I have to 'get images' all the time?

What the heck is 'download images automatically' there for if i never automatically gets the images?

is the 'learning' ONLY a Bold feature?

I recently upgraded my Pearl 8130 to OS 4.5 & was told by a fellow stacker that this feature will automatically download imbeded images only. That other web images will have to be downloaded with 'get images' and there is no way around it. So, I think it depends on how the email was sent to you. I notice that some sender's emails come through with no problem, & others I have to 'get images' It is annoying & I even re-installed Empower to try to get around it, but it didnt work.

    SepiaEyz Thanks!

That makes sense. I don't like it. But, it makes sense in how it works.

Sepia is correct. Externally linked images will always require you to fetch them manually. Downloading those types of images require the opening of a security "hole" and this is RIM's way of informing you of that.

If you click on the FAQ link in my signature, you will find the link to an article from RIM that addresses this from their perspective. Not a whole lot more information, but in their words, nonetheless.
