Question Problems upgrading to OS 5.0+

    Hello,
I've been trying to upgrade my OS from V4.6.1.231 to 8900 - 5.0.0.461 (COSMOTE)
I have a T-mobile 8900 and have the latest DM which is 5.01 I believe.
I downloaded the 8900 - 5.0.0.461 (COSMOTE) and deleted the vendor file, but when I go to the app loader it doesn't find any new OS's.
It only has my current OS which is 4.6 and another OS to downgrade.
I've been trying to figure this out for days, I've uninstaled/reinstalled everything and nothing has worked so far.
    Thanks for helping guys!
Oh and I bought this phone from ebay and it was refurbished and it doesn't have a IT policy if any of that matters :/
    Thanks again!

Try turning off your internet connection on your computer before opening blackberry desktop manager, this will allow the bb desktop manager to find the os 5.0 on your computer instead of searching the internet for your carriers latest version.

    Oh wow surprisingly that worked.
    Thanks!!
But now it says I need to have a Blackberry service subscription to continue to upgrade it to the new OS.
I don't have any data plans or anything.
Is there a way to bypass this?
Or am I stuck with 4.6?

Okay never mind. I think the only way to bypass that is to use the old loader which is found in the same location where the "vendor" file is.
And as of now it's updating and doing its thing!
    I hope it works
    Thanks eeverheart!!

The loader is usually your best option when you can't get DM to recognize the OS. Glad to hear you got it to work.
