    Thumbs down Problem changing password

I'm trying to change the password or even better disable the password but there is a little red lock next to "Enable" in the General Settings.

This is very annoying because the default password is random 8 digit code

Is this a device password you're talking about? Are you on BES system, or did you purchase this device second hand?

Every time my phone locks the keypad I get asked for a password to unlock it. I did get this phone from someone.
I called T-mobile for help and they just had me wipe the device and gave me the password for the phone.

I have never seen a little red lock next to something before. Before I wiped the device I could only change the password, and not disable it

The lock means it is locked by an IT policy set by a Blackberry Enterprise server. Do you know the person you got the phone from? Are you still on a BES?

    sharky,

Here are a couple of threads that can help you get rid of the IT policy:

Sounds like I will have to find the latest version of DM and try one of the those ideas.

On a side note......Dooes the 8310 normally have a poor battery life and if so where can I find a replacement that will give me longer life

You'll find a link to download DM in the Technical Support Blog link in my signature. 5.0.1.18 is the latest from RIM.

I haven't noticed anything in terms of poor battery life with my 8310. I'm on my 2nd one, too.

The curve generally had very good battery life, easily lasting a couple of days. Ovbiously if you are a heavy user, then you will see a greater decrease in battery life.
