I have encountered at times my DM will reset some settings and paths if I install or upgrade it. It's really quirky that way. My latest was still trying to trouble shoot the backup not recognizing my Profiles.

Anyways I downgraded the DM and Upgraded then tried to connect up and all of a sudden it didn't recognize my BB. IT delete all my OS installs.

SO give that a whirl and let us know what happens.
    removed the DM
    removed OS
    installed DM
    installed OS
No recognition of the device via USB. Solid red light for approx 2 mins (triggered when I did a hard reset) followed by the 2 blink red light sequence I reported earlier. Screen completely black.

No drop. No mositure. Again the device was stuck in a typical hourglass bootcycle until I ingenuously tried to force a wipe at the Application Loader stage by typing the wrong pass 10 times. Up until then it would recognize the USB each time.

JL Commander has failed to detect the port no matter how many times I try (even with the various battery pulls, etc. reported here).

I sincerely appreciate everyone's prompt attention and recommendations and will try back again later - my gut tells me she is dead and I am screwed.

    Thanks.

    Mike.

So, I just want to make sure I understand you, Mike, DM won't even recognize the phone if you take the battery out of the phone, leave it out and then plug the phone into the computer?
Thanks to my 'Berry, I'm only an e-mail away.

that is correct - computer does not see the phone - not even in the Device Manager - not an issue with the USB ports, etc as other berries are seen immediately. Again it used to show up just fine until I tried to force a wipe via the Application Loader at which point...hourglass disappeared, blinking red light show began.

Well, I guess the next question, is it still in warranty?

If neither of the two No Comms OS Install processes work, it's probably more serious than just Software.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~Man reading this post thread was like reading a suspense novel, waiting to see what happens next lol. All jokes aside though man I can empathize with Mike, I bricked two of my bbs and I was not a happy camper. Mike hope you get your bb straightened out. Just take a break for a minute then get back to it. That's what I have to do if I'm stumped with something, just take a break to clear my mind so I can think better later. Its pretty cool how everyone chipped in to help offering advice. Keep up the good work all!!

As much as it pains me as an obsessive compulsive to say I think she's dead - I am also thinking this is hardware...I am on Rogers service but bought the device from a third party - Rogers won't service or replace the device and says to talk to RIM.

I want to SINCERELY thank everyone for working with me on this. I have learned a lot about the process and plan on sticking around to try and offer some assistance when others run into similar problems. I am off to track down a new phone. I am guessing it'll be an 8310.

If by some miracle she comes back to me, you'll all be the first to know.

    THANKS
    Mike.

Re: Pretty Sure I Bricked It

    Mike,
I'm sitting here thinking about the time I thought I had bricked my old 7130c and I am thinking, not for positive, but pretty sure that the only thing that brought it back to life was taking the battery out and leaving it set overnight without it. I don't remember the process and it was a while ago, but it did eventually come back to life.

Not guaranteed but worth a try. Let it set batteryless a day or so then see what happens.

I would venture to guess that if NOTHING is working, it COULD be a fried USB port on the device itself. but thats just a guess...

Mike, goto the rogers website and download the handheld code

My friend had the same problem with his pearl and your situation sounds exactly just like mine. The red lights would blink repeatedly .

download the handheld code from here
    https://your.rogers.com/web_auth/tec...B8M84RP6&type=

you'll need to choose blackberry, then on the right drop down list blackberry curve because the curve with gps page is empty.

    and follow these instructions

install the handheld code, take the battery out, plug in via usb, run app loader. or call rogers tech support they were the ones that helped me solve my problem. if you need the number i think its 1-800-rogers1

Re: Pretty Sure I Bricked It

The proceedure that Gary is suggesting has generally worked for me, however I generally find I need to mess around with where in the boot sequence I show it USB. Too early or too late and you seem to miss the window of opportunity.

The idea of leaving the battery off it overnight is also valid (or for a couple of hours ), just gives a chance for a lot of fairly voltage sensitive parts to settle down. If the bootloader's baulked I'd guess it will need specialist tools.

    cheers
