Question Phantom keystrokes when entering password

Has anyone else had this happen? I did a search and found nothing.

Scenario is that I have my Curve locked with a password, and every so often when I attempt to enter my password, it appears that either the trackball or the ENTER button is getting accidentally triggered thus counting towards my 10 password limit. I have had to disable the security feature due to this as I have had my Curve wiped once already.

Does anyone have any clues or should I just to a return to get a new phone?

Any and all help is appreciated.

it is a possibility that the pad beneath the keys are touching each other thus when you press a certain key, the button next to it becomes activated too... it is a possibility especially if you live in humid areas where "sweat" goes inside the phone and stays in there and acts like a conductor... btw what is your service provider?

I had something similar happen, but if I did a battery pull it would fix it. I think it had something to do with an older version of the OS, but I'm not sure about that.

mine does sort of the same. mine's not with the trackball though. mine's just typing the letters too fast. it'll guess its another letter before i can even correct it it's imputted like four more characters. i dont know if its BB defect or user defect ( as far as my issue is concerned) luckily i havent been wiped yet... very strange..... i'd say get another one. the issue will probably continue to get worse as time goes by...

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ that's bcuz the lock screen is only allowed but so much memory. Like if u were to use plamic and make the letters too detailed it will say it exceeds something like 65kb or some ****. I think that's prob the reason for the lag time too

I have AT&T as a service provider. This weekend I will disassemble and clean the trackball to see if this makes any difference.

I did notice that this happened when it was rather humid living in Florida and all.

Did the battery pull as well but it did not really help; issue came back about a week later.

I decided to get a warranty exchange. Too bad I did not get the 8310, they sent me a refurbed 8300. Well see if this one last more that 3 months.
