    Performance on the slow side?

I've been holding my breath for the 8800 series and then the 8300. For a BB addict, looong enough time!
It appears that I am holding on to my Pearl again, however.

I keep hearing how sluggish the new 8300 is...
When you think about it, it has more features that the older BB models don't.
With the same processor that was used for 8700, 8100 and 8800, RIM continues to pack more features into their new devices, which is always great though. And yet, the same old processor... oh... and let's not forget... the same old 64mb internal memory.

Honestly, my Pearl is sluggish from time to time already!
Could I handle a device that is slower than my Pearl? Maybe not...

Well, I guess I will wait until I am eligible for an upgrade, at least a year from now.

But there is not a doubt in my mind.... I LOVE my Pearl!!!

I don't think that mine is slugish at all. I did upgrade from an 8700 and not a pearl.

Re: Performance on the slow side?

A friend of mine, who is a BB addict like me, picked one up yesterday.
His main gripe is how slowly it performs.

That was the decision maker for me right there, even though I'd been waiting for it to come out desperately for a long enough time.

Interesting... Perhaps I am not as bad of an addict as my husband thinks .

The omly time I find it slower than the pearl is during a reset and I'm not sure it's actually any slower. Media loading seems to be faster than the pearl.

    Hope this helps.

This is intresting. I never have that any thought to that. I enjoy the speed of my pearl. If the 8830 is slower than the pearl that's a huge downfall. I'd rather keep my suretype buddy wit me. I wonder the responses this post will get

The only thing I find a little slow is playing audio media for now(I haven't put any video on it. Overall, me. Likie! I was expecting a wider device it too easily fits in my palm, which I guess is a good plus. The keyboard reminds me of a treo, which takes some getting used to.
